The producers of global dance sensation Burn The Floor recently commissioned John to write their new show. My Revolution is a celebration of the British pop invasion of America, which began in 1964 when The Beatles performed live on the Ed Sullivan show. This stunning production features eight dancers, four singers and band and is currently wowing passengers on the super luxury cruise ship, Seven Seas Explorer.
As well as At Last – The Etta James Story John’s theatre writing credits include Let’s Get It On – The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye. Having toured throughout Australia, the show opened to rave reviews at the prestigious Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2014. John’s next project was writing the comedy/cabaret Bugle Boys – A Salute To The Andrews Sisters. The show, which saw its stage debut at Melbourne’s Chapel Off Chapel in October 2015 resulted in a sold-out theatre and five star reviews and would go on to pack houses at the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
John’s critically acclaimed debut novel Pommy Bastard! was unleashed in 2007 and, giving JK Rowling a scare has gone on to sell a whopping eight-hundred copies in just nine years (apologies if you received one as a gift).
John was born in the UK but for the past twenty-something years has called Australia home. Honing his writing skills working in the advertising industry in London and Sydney, he also worked in the Middle East for a couple of years and spent a further four years working at sea as a cruise ship entertainer.
Throughout all this he moonlights as a stand-up comedian and has performed in the UK, the USA and all the major (and not so major) comedy venues across Australia.
