Originally from Scotland Moira began her thirty-plus years in the music business at A&M Records head office in London. Moving on to CBS she worked in several countries before being posted to Sydney where she oversaw stewardship of numerous satellite labels that were managed by the giant corporation.
At the height of the eighties Richard Branson selected Moira to head up Virgin Records Australia – his first female Managing Director of a record company. The fledgling label quickly enjoyed huge commercial success with star acts Culture Club, Peter Gabriel, Human League, Public Image Ltd, Simple Minds and enjoyed local success when Moira’s first local signing, Do Re Mi topped the charts.
These days Moira concentrates her energy on the live scene, packaging new productions, showcasing local talent and along the way paying homage to past greats.
Moira is CEO of Room 8 Pty Ltd and in conjunction with producer Simon Myers has produced several successful shows. As well as At Last – The Etta James Story Room 8 produced Let’s Get It On – The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye. Having toured throughout Australia, the show opened to rave reviews at the prestigious Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2014.
Moira also produced the comedy/cabaret Bugle Boys – A Salute To The Andrews Sisters. The show, which saw its stage debut at Melbourne’s Chapel Off Chapel in October 2015 resulted in a sold-out theatre and five star reviews and would go on to pack houses at the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
